Week of September 21st, 2020

Posted On Tuesday September 22, 2020

Hello Munsch Parents,

We are two weeks into school and students are adjusting well to all the changes in place. Our staff are doing their best to keep students safe and engaged while at school. Monday will mark the first week back for all our students which staff have been preparing for since we started the return to school. We are excited and are looking forward to continuing on a safe journey.

Due to the circumstances, Curriculum Night is going to look a little different this year. Instead of parents and students joining us at school, teachers are going hold 3 Virtual Meetings using the platform Google Meet with students and their families on Thursday, September 24th. Families can join online for the following sessions:

  • Session 1 from 6:00- 6:20 p.m.

  • Session 2 from 6:20-6.40 p.m.

  • Session 3 from 6:40-7:00 p.m

This will be time for you to meet your child's teacher, and learn more about the classroom. Teachers will send out the link the day of the meeting.

Student Devices

Our students who had devices deployed to them during distance learning should be bringing them back and forth to school. These devices are to be used at school and are needed as we do not have a plethora of devices left.

School Community Council (SCC)

Our first School Community Council Meeting will be on Thursday October 1st at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be virtual. If you are interested in holding a position on the SCC please see the attached Nomination form. Please fill it out and send it via email to robertmunschps@ddsb.ca by Thursday morning of October 1st. All are welcome!

“REMINDER”

Child Assessment Checklist for COVID-19

Before sending your child(ren) to school or child care, every parent/guardian is required to go through the following checklist of NEW, WORSENING, or UNEXPLAINED symptoms of COVID-19. This must be done everyday. If your child(ren) exhibit any of the symptoms on the list, you are advised to contact your health care provider and will not be allowed to come to school.

We suggest that you post this poster in a convenient place in your home. You can also use the Ministry of Health’s online self-assessment tool for this purpose every day by visiting:https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

COVID-19 Protocols

The DDSB will be following the Ministry of Education’sOperational Guidance: COVID-19 Management in Schools should a case of COVID-19 be suspected or confirmed in a student or staff member. We will also be following any additional directions of the Durham Region Health Department, who has the responsibility to manage confirmed cases of COVID-19, including what happens if there is an outbreak.

Our school and the DDSB is committed to informing you as parents/guardians of child(ren) in our school, along with school staff if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school.

That is all for this week!
